I would like to find the perfect, charming weeping tree for a cottage garden in front of my house. I would like something that stays small and will not shade the house. I am in Zone 6 and the spot is facing west with afternoon sun. Thank you.

How about a Weeping Cherry or a Weeping Mulberry? They both have beautiful flowers, a great weeping habit, and neither grow very large at all, perhaps 10-12' for most varieties. I like the variety Prunus x subhirtella for a cherry but there are many, many beautiful varieties. Either is suitable for your zone and proposed exposure and I think you would be extremely pleased. Check garden centers and nurseries, most places are getting lots of varieties in at this time of the year. I saw both of these trees last weekend at the local KMart!
