Can I plant a veggie in a thick plastic bag which measures 14"-24"? |
I suppose you could, although you would want to place some gravel in the bottom and poke some holes so it could drain. You'd also want to make sure it would stand up, even during a wind or rainstorm. However, plastic tends to degrade pretty quickly when exposed to sunlight, so it may not last long enough before it crumbles. Also, clear plastic transmits heat very well, which means that the soil and roots could essentially "cook". A better, inexpensive, alternative might be to visit some restaurants (or sheetrock contractors) and get some of those white plastic 5-gallon pails. They make fine planters. |
