The best soil for a raised bed contains garden soil, organic matter such as aged manure or compost, and sand. You can purchase a 3 way mix of top soil or you can make your own by mixing compost and sand into the soil already available in your yard. The key is to fill your raised bed with a loamy soil that drains well. Good luck with your new raised bed!
