Bought my first house last year -- some yellow flowers had bloomed, and now I still see leaves above ground this year, no flowers. Are they gone for good? Do I just plant over in this area? And what can I plant that has good color and is hard to kill? Because it's going to need to be resilient! I like pink and purple colors. I'm brand new at this---Sherry

Without knowing what the yellow flower is, I can't tell you whether it will flower again for you this year. If the leaves are still alive, just leave the plant alone and see what happens later this summer. If you don't like it or the way it performs for you, dig it out and replace it with something you like. You might try planting Cat's Whiskers (lavender flowers), Gaura (pink flowers), Gerbera Daisies (many colors), Jewels of Opar (pink flowers) or Lantana in your garden. Best wishes with your new garden!
