|We've recently moved to Papua New Guinea and are trying to start a vegetable garden to raise all those veggies that aren't grown locally. We are also beginners at gardening. We've seen several general books on vegetable gardening, but they all seem to assume you'll be doing it in a temperate climate. How much of the advice from these books is also valid for tropical climates with a lot of rain and different kinds of pests? Do you know of a book with lots of advice specifically for tropical climates?|
|I think the best place I can send you is Hawaii's Extension Service web site:
Here are two books that might be of interest to you:
"A Guide to Tropical and Subtropical Vegetables" and "A Guide to Tropical Fruit Trees and Vines", both by Nick Acrivos . They are available fir $6.00 each (plus extra postage?) from Florida Gardening, PO Box 500678, Malabar, FL 32950
I hope this helps you get started.
