|Sunflower hulls contain a chemical that inhibits the growth of other plants so I would suggest composting the hulls or at least letting them sit over the summer months so rain or water from the hose can leach the chemicals from them. Once they have been composted or stockpiled and aged you can use them to mulch around your plants or you can incorporate them into your soil as you would any organic matter.
