Choosing A Groundcover - Knowledgebase Question

I am looking for a low-maintenance very low growing ground-cover that can be walked on (barefoot) occasionly. I would prefer it to be green most of the year (all year is better). I would prefer to be able to start from seed. It would be in an area that gets varying amounts of sun from 2 hrs -8 hrs. I am in Zone 9 (gulfcoast) so it must tolerate hot humid summers. I'm not asking for much am I? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Four come to mind, Lemon Carpet Thyme, Creeping Thyme, Mother of Thyme and Wooly Thyme. Mother of Thyme. I don't know about finding them in seed form, that is a tough one. However, they can be trod upon occasionally (and smell DELIGHTFUL when you do), would certainly be green most of the year for you and may even be green year round in your zone, are very low growing, and do have bloom. All but Mother of Thyme are available from Richter's Herbs at www.richters.com, or ph. # 905-640-6677. They have them in plant form, not seed. I could not locate seed for these plants. Mother of Thyme seed is available from SBE Exotic Seed at http://www.seedman.com/seedban...
