I planted a lical bush about 4 years ago. It grow to about 6-feet tall but it never had any blooms. What am I doing wromg? |
The most common reasons for lack of bloom are too little sunlight (lilacs like full sun all day long) and improperly timed pruning. Lilacs should only be pruned in spring right after their bloom season because they bloom on old wood, meaning late summer, fall, winter or early spring pruning would remove flower buds. Finally, some varieties of lilac such as the Persian lilac and Miss Kim normally take a number of years to come into bloom. Perhaps you have one of these. |
