WE RECENTLY PLANTED ONE. IT IS IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT FROM THE WEST. DO WE NEED TO TRANSPLANT THIS TO A MORE SHADED AREA?

Japanese maples need only an hour or two of morning sunshine. If they get direct afternoon sun, the leaves can turn a crispy brown. Since your tree is young and only recently planted, I would opt to move it to a less sunny spot. You'll be glad you did!
