I just bought 35 liatris bulbs from home depot-I would like them to flower this summer-should I wait to plant them in the garden or should I start them indoors? I live on Cape Cod (MA)-If outdoors, when should I plant? If I have to start them indoors, can you give me instructions on how and when to plant?

Plant Liatris in full sun and well-drained soil, spacing the corms 12-15 inches apart. They are cold tolerant so you can plant the corms outdoors now. Liatris performs best when grown in full sun, but it will tolerate some light shade. It also tolerates poor soils, and some types will flop over if grown in too rich of a soil. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, Liatris is fairly drought tolerant. Best wishes with your liatris!
