My parents have an enclosed ourdoor room
with tropical plants.
My brother added a hot tub.
Now some of the plants such as the huge staghorn
fern have what appears to be a black sooty mold? etc
and some of the plants
appear to by dying.
Is it the chemicals or the
humidity causing this?
Please advise.
What kinds of indoor plants
will thrive in this atmosphere? We live in
Northern Ohio.

Fungus can really grow in places with high humidity and I suspect that is what is affecting your staghorn. You may be able to save it by moving to a place with less humidity. Plants, like ferns, Rex begonias, Prayer Plant and Calathea, require high humidity to grow well so try planting them instead.
