Both snapdragons and pansies grow and flower best when the temperatures are cool. In your neck of the woods they will perform nicely until hot weather arrives and then they will die down. Since you can't control the weather in your part of the state, just consider them cool season annuals and plan to replace them with more heat tolerant plants later in the season. Some of the more heat-tolerant annuals include Angelonia, California poppy, cleome, cosmos, geranium, lobelia, marigold, million bells, nasturtium, nicotiana, petunia, portulaca, salvia, and zinnia for sunny spots and for shady spots try Ageratum, cineraria, coleus, forget-me-not, impatiens, nemophila, pansy, primrose, sweet William, vinca, wax begonia. Best wishes with your garden!
