New to Tucson and would like variety choices that would work in a small garden area...some with pretty blooms as well.

So many choices, so little room! Here are some of my favorites: Agave chrysantha,
Agave deserti subsp. simplex;, Echinocereus nicholii (Golden Hedgehog),
Echinocereus triglochidiatus v. melanacanthus (Claret Cup Hedgehog); Ferocactus wislizenii (Fishhook Barrel); Mammillaria viridiflora (Fishhook Pincushion),
Coryphantha scheeri v. robustispina (Pima Pineapple Cactus); Opuntia arbuscula (Pencil Cholla), Opuntia leptocaulis (Desert Christmas Cholla); Graptopetalum rusbyi (clumping rosettes look like miniature hen and chicks); Portulaca umbraticola Purslane (mat-forming summer ephemeral). Enjoy your new cactus garden!
