Flat Homesite-No Drainage - Knowledgebase Question

PRIEST RIVER, ID (Zone 5B)

Post & beam so should stay dry. Posts are 3' deep-how deep French drains. 3'eaves, no gutters, moist climate in Idaho panhandle, clay soil. Wonder if should install french drains but wanted to plant bushes as well. Should French drain go as close to house as possible and then bushes further out? Snow slides off metal roof so would bushes have too much damage? or would they like the water?

Your situation requires more detail and information than we can fit into a brief reply. Dealing with drainage issues is usually best done by professional landscapers. There is some good detail and advice about curtain drains in the following web site: http://grounds-mag.com/mag/gro...

You might also check with your cooperative extension office for direction and advise. Good luck with your landscape!
