I have noticed in my front yard that the areas that the dogs go to the bathroom sometimes turn brown and other times the area is fine. Is there anyway to take care of the area so I don't have a spotted lawn? Also why is it that some areas brown and others are fine?

The concentrated salts in the urine are what causes brown spots. Female dogs often have hormones in their urine that will affect the lawn at some times and more than other times. If you can hose off the area immediately you can effectively dilute the urine and keep the areas from turning brown. I'd try to train the dog to use one particular place to relieve him/herself or rinse the area off as soon as possible, or just put up with the dog spots. There's not much else you can do!
