Every year m perennials come back but don't seem to flourish in size. They seem to stay the same size as when I first planted them. I fertilize and use an organic compost. Do you have any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? |
If you amended your soil prior to planting and side dress with additional compost, there's no reason for puny growth of your perennials. They do need adequate sunlight, though, so make sure they are getting as much as possible if they are sun loving perennials. The only other suggestion is to pinch and prune them back early in the season. Pinching promotes lots of new stems which makes plant lush and full. Give this a try and see if you get better results. If not, dig them this fall, rework your soil with additional organic matter and then replant. Hope this helps! |
