African violets can be propagated by division or by removing a leaf and planting it in moist potting soil. If your plant is overcrowded and has two or more crowns, remove from the pot and gently separate the crowns, planting each in its own pot. Or, cut a leaf with a stem attached, cut straight across the end of the stem, dip it into rooting hormone, and insert the cutting with the back of the leaf towards the back of the pot, to help support it. The base of the leaf should be just above the potting mix. Keep the soil moist until new growth appears from the leaf. Then repot your new little plant.
