So many seeds spring to life almost immediately, that it's hard to narrow down the list. Marigolds, scabiosa, petunia, nasturtium, zinnia, alyssum, cosmos and cornflower all grow quickly in a sunny spot. Shade lovers include impatiens, lobelia, pansy and nemophila (Baby Blue Eyes). Prepare your soil by digging in some organic matter, sprinkle the seeds, cover by lightly raking and then water gently. Keep the seedbed moist until the sprouts emerge and then water with a little liquide fertilizer. You'll have lots of flowers in a few short weeks.
