| Recently fertilized my lawn and, in my enthusiasm, decided to lime the lawn as well. Later in the day, I read that it is NOT good to fertilize and lime the same day / time, as the nitrogen and lime mix together to form ammonia, not good for plants and lawns. Is this true, and if so, how do I correct my error, if its correctable? Thank you, in advance, for your advice |
| I've never heard any caution about applying lime and fertilizer around the same time, but I know that lime takes time to fully act, so the benefits it provides won't be evident for many months. For this reason, the best approach is to apply lime in the fall and fertilize before and during the growing season. I don't think you will see anything adverse from the lime and fertilizer applications. Lime takes time to work its way down into the soil and work its magic but you should see some benefits from the fertilizer within the next week or so. Best wishes with your lawn! |
