I need to remove all of the bulbs in my backyard before a section is leveled for a swing set. My tulips and daffodils have bloomed already. I understand that is is not recommended to cut the leaves. How should I remove and store the bulbs for replanting in the fall.

If you remove the foliage before it naturally dies down, you'll rob the bulb of necessary nutrients to produce next year's bloom. Since you must move your bulbs now, try to dig them without disturbing the soil around the bulbs, and put them elsewhere in the garden until the foliage dies down. Then dig, clean, and store them in sawdust or peatmoss until planting time in the fall.
