How do we keep our redworms alive through the forecast blizzard and freezing temps. We just put them in the compost bin yesterday, 4/2/09.

Red worms typically move to the coolest part of the compost when it's hot and to the warmest part when it is cold so there's really nothing you can or need to do. I doubt they will be affected but even if they are, there are usually eggs mixed into the peat or compost in which they were shipped so you'll get new red worms. Or, you can introduce some fresh manure into your compost bin when the weather warms. Best wishes with your compost!
