I have two smallish crepe myrtles in my yard and last year, they bloomed prolifically. I thought when the new leaves came in this year, the seed pods would fall away, but they are still there. Should I trim away last years seed pods? Thanks! |
I would trim them off. Crape myrtles bloom on the new growth of the season. If you prune off the flowers when they are spent your tree will put out new growth and a second flush of blooms. Trimming after each bloom cycle will not only keep the trees from developing seed pods but will also encourage additional flowers. Enjoy your trees! |
