How can I get rid of bag worms in my pecan and persimmons trees? I've had them for a couple of years and it really looks awlful.

The little larvae that are in the bags will leave the protection of the bags and can be controlled at that time (usually in June). The best time to apply an insecticide is while the larvae are still small (less than 1/2-inch long). Several products are available for homeowner use. The least toxic is the microbial insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) which is sold under many brand names, including Dipel. Timing is extremely important so watch the leaves for signs of the larvae and treat at that time.
