I bought a large tomato plant and the leaves at the bottom quarter of the plant are turning yellow and dying. What am I doing wrong

It is not unusual for tomato plants to lose the lowest and oldest leaves. It doesn't indicate any particular problem with your Early Girl. Cut or pinch off the dead and dying leaves and remove them from the garden, then lay an inch of compost over the soil beneath the plant (just in case there are fungal spores lurking there). When you water, try not to splash water on the leaves of your tomato plants. Hope you have a great harvest!
