What are the small, hard, reticulated worms I'm finding on my driveway and concrete walkway? Will they cause damage to my plants? How do I get rid of them?

You've probably encountered some dead worms. They're abundant in soil that's healthy, and they wander about during and after rains or when you've watered your garden. The worms slide around on a thin film of water when they leave the soil. When that water dries up, they're marooned, and often dehydrate. Worms are good guys; they aerate the soil and help decompose organic matter. Don't intentionally kill them!
