|Yellow straight neck squash is typically yellow from the beginning so I think you got a different type of summer squash. I'm sure it will be edible and it will taste best if harvested small. The more you harvest the more squash your plant will develop. Wait until it is a little larger and then cut it from the vine and cook it. It is probably a roly poly zucchini and they are ready to eat when they are about the size of a softball. Enjoy!
