While azaleas can suffer from fungal diseases, it isn't likely that all of your plants, in different parts of the garden, have developed the same disease. If all of your Encore azaleas have the same symptoms but they are all planted in different parts of the garden, we need to put on our detective caps and determine just what common condition they are all experiencing. Azaleas like acidic soils, they like good drainage and they are all vulnerable to late freezes. If you haven't had your soil tested, now might be a good time. Perhaps the soil's pH is not quite right. Root rot is common on azaleas when the soil stays saturated for long periods of time. Could be that the soil is not draining well enough for your plants. If they developed new foliage this spring but it is turning brown, it might be from a late freeze. I hope you can determine the common denominator!
