|You can overseed the bare patches in your lawn. Rake the soil, sprinkle some seeds over the bare areas and the cover the seeds with compost. The grass will sprout in 7-14 days. Ants can be a problem but with little children around you probably won't want to use chemicals. Try pouring boiling water over the mounds in the very early morning or late at night when all the ants are in the nest. Repeat this process several days in a row and the ants should pack up and leave. Best wishes with your landscape.
