Gardenia Yellow Leaves - Knowledgebase Question

I have a gardenia tree that blooms nicely every year but has many yellow leaves instead of the glossy green it should have. Our soil is alkaline and I use acid-loving plant food and compost. Any other suggestions to make it green? Thanks.

You might try some iron sulphate. It's a granular form of iron that you sprinkle at the base of the plant. Use in amounts as recommended on the label (which varies, depending upon size and age of plant). Best wishes with your gardenia.
