|Do you have any suggestions of how I can shape two old forscyinthia
bushes into a unique animal shape? Just like Edward Scissorhand did? Thanks in advance for any ideas you have.
|Typically the plants you see shaped into animals are pruned free-hand by some very artistic gardeners. Forsythia isn't the best specimen for this type of pruning because they put on so much growth each year. Better selections are slower growing plants that tolerate lots of pruning and remain evergreen all year around. In some instances wire forms are placed over small hedging plants and the plants are allowed to grow just beyond the wire, which acts as a guide when pruning. Wish I had more ideas for you!|
