I lost 34 of my perrenial garden last spring due to vole infestation. I used casor oil, but to no avail. It is now spring but I am afraid to replant as I have woods in the back and I fear they are living there and waiting for new plants to chew on. Should I turn this area into a shrub garden instead? Thanx Dee

It's hard to stop voles, although you could set mouse traps in your garden to catch them. If they are coming from the woods, you may never be able to reduce the population enough to have a pretty flower garden. You can try planting in containers and setting the containers in the garden. With any luck the voles won't hop up into the containers. It's worth a try!
