I have a lawn service. This winter was exceptionally hard on my lawn. I raked the lawn removing the thatch or dead grass. I have many (what appears to be brown spots. There is some grass growing since I raked. How long do I wait to determine if new sod should be laid? I have St. Augustine grass

St. Augustine grass should begin to grow vigorously by mid-May. I'd wait until then to reassess the lawn. By then you will probably see enough new growth to convince you that the bare spots will fill in. If not, you can place new sprigs or plugs in the bare areas. Good luck with your landscape!
