|We bought our house @ 12 years ago and I have a shaded area where nothing will grow. When I dig, there appears to be kitty litter buried here. Is there anything I can plant that may survive or is there any way I can treat the soil. There is too much to dig out.

|Cat urine is high in salt content and can sterilize soil and make it useless for planting. If you can't dig it out and replace the soil, then make a raised bed with fresh topsoil over the area. I just don't know of any plants that will grow in the soil as it is now. Wish I had more solutions!
