Kitty Litter in Soil - Knowledgebase Question

We bought our house @ 12 years ago and I have a shaded area where nothing will grow. When I dig, there appears to be kitty litter buried here. Is there anything I can plant that may survive or is there any way I can treat the soil. There is too much to dig out.

Cat urine is high in salt content and can sterilize soil and make it useless for planting. If you can't dig it out and replace the soil, then make a raised bed with fresh topsoil over the area. I just don't know of any plants that will grow in the soil as it is now. Wish I had more solutions!
