I've planted my little green house (the little starter ones) and it says it needs 12-16 hours of sunlight... where on earth do I get that in my house? Do I absolutely need that much time, or can I put it outside? The other thing is- I can't really afford to go all out and get a special light, can I get by without?

A single hooded shoplight with 2 fluorescent bulbs will provide your plants with enough light. Or you can try setting it in a bright window. If your seedlings do not get enough light they will grow spindly (leggy) instead of stout. If your weather is warm, you can simply set the mini greenhouse outdoors in a shady spot to start your seeds. Good luck with your seed starting!
