Browning leaves can indicate over watering or soils that do not drain well. While I applaud your efforts to water once a week, watering really depends upon the weather and your soil type. Clay soils can hold water for extended lengths of time. Why not dig down near the roots of your plants 3-4 days after watering to see how moist or dry the soil is? If it is dry 2 inches below the surface, it's time to water. If it's still moist, wait another few days and check again. Eventually you will get a feel for how often to water your azaleas. I'd hold off on the root stimulator. It just takes time for roots to become established in the landscape and until that happens your plants may fail to grow or might even look wimpy. As soon as new roots are developed your azaleas will adapt to their growing conditions. If you don't see flower buds on your plants they won't flower this year. If you do see flower buds, they should open around Mother's Day. Best wishes with your new plants.
