Is there any way to stop a sweetgum tree from producing its fruit. I've heard that if you top it that will work, but I didn't believe it. |
I wouldn't top the trees for a few reasons: it is unattractive, it isn't the healthiest thing you can do for your trees, and, it won't stop the fruit production. There is a product called "Fruit Eliminator" that is recommended for stopping sweet gum trees from producing fruit. This product also works on crabapples, cottonwood, etc. You can purchase it from Jerry Baker's Gardening Products at 1-800-888-0010. |
