What can I do to stop carnations from being straggly and not mounding into nice, round mounds? They are all blooming beautifully, but the straggly ones all tend to lean to the ground while the ones on the mounds stand up straight and tall.

Pinching back the straggly plants will encourage them to become bushier, but you may lose some of the bloom until the plants are able to develop new buds. Perhaps some of your carnation plants are struggling for sunshine, moisture, or nutrients, which would make them look puny in comparison to the other plants. Try giving them a light feeding and making sure they get ample water. If they're not planted in full sunshine, you might want to transplant them to a sunnier spot.
