Last year, I planted 2 rhododendron bushes. I think they might be dead. How do I know?

The best way to test to see if the plants are alive is to scrape the bark off a few of the branches. If there is green tissue directly beneath the bark, the branch is alive; brown tissue indicates it is dead. Keep scraping lower and lower on the branch to find green tissue. If there is none, that branch is dead. Hope your rhodies are still alive!
