i have roots all over my yard, the plants are hard and stubby like little trees. they are everywhere that i dig.i live in universal city, close to randolph afb. what are these things and how can i get rid of a whole yard full of them? thank you-donna mitchell |
It sounds as though a nearby tree is sending up suckers from the roots. There isn't much you can do to stop the suckering growth - any chemical you apply can be translocated to the tree and compromise its health or perhaps even kill it. If there are no nearby trees, then the roots are what remain in the ground from a tree that has been cut down. If this is the case, the roots will continue to send up suckers until the roots die completely. You will either have to dig out the old roots or continue to cut down the suckers.
