Wild violets are really difficult to control because the roots are bulbs and they can resprout when you cut off the tops of the plants. So the best control measure is to dig the violets out, bulbs and all. After you've done that, rake the bare areas and reseed. Then put your lawn on a regular watering, mowing and feeding schedule to promote a lush, thick lawn that effectively crowds out weeds. Enjoy your garden!
