|I live on Ft Carson, last summer I spent over $350 trying to grow a lawn in my back yard. I did the grass seeding thing with hay, the moisture mixed w/ fertilizer & seeds its blue and you spread it and water it & get grass started in a week. Not. Being alone I can;t lift sod am I missing something to get grass to grow from seed on this soil|
|If you didn't amend the soil prior to planting your seeds, that could explain why your grass is struggling. What you can do now is rent an aerator and go over the entire lawn. A core aerator will remove one inch by three inch plugs from the lawn. Leave the plugs on the lawn and they will dissolve in rain or water from the sprinklers. After aerating spread a thin layer of sand or compost over the area and water it in well. The sand or compost plus the soil from the plugs will work their way down into the holes left by the plugs. You can then overseed your entire lawn.|
Aerating and adding compost or sand should improve the soil beneath the lawn and help your lawn grow lush and thick, which will help crowd out any future weeds.
