|You can harvest some of the stalks or you can just allow them to develop into ferny foliage which will feed the roots. Next year you can begin to harvest in earnest, for about 4 weeks, then stop harvesting and allow the remaing stalks to develop ferny foliage. When the plants are 3-4 years old you can harvest for 6-8 weeks. Enjoy your asparagus.
