Will planting watermelons, canteloupes and squash together cause them to cross-pollinate? If so, how far apart should they be planted? |
They will indeed cross-pollinate, but this is only a problem if you intend to harvest seed to plant next year. It won't effect the outcome of the current year's fruits. Follow the spacing guidelines as printed on the seed packets. These guidelines are based on giving vines adequate space to spread and draw nutrients and moisture from the soil. Enjoy your summer fruits! |
