|Before frost last fall I gathered seeds from my Cosmos flowers and kept them to re-plant this year. I planted the seeds in seed starter containers last weekend. How long should I wait before planting them in the ground, and how fragile/hardy are they? Any special tips I should know? Thanks.

|Cosmos seeds generally sprout 5-10 days after sowing and they sprout more readily in warm soils so make sure the containers are in a warm area. You can plant them out in the garden after they have developed 3 sets of leaves. By then your garden soil should be nice and warm and they should grow nicely for you. They are not particularly fragile - rather hardy, I think. Enjoy!
