Need best way to plant petunias in an old wheelbarrow. I have a very sunny spot, water them and they still didn't do very well in the wheel barrow

It could be that the wheelbarrow got too hot and the roots baked. If it is metal, or even wood, try covering the inside with an insulation such as the half-inch styrofoam panels that are sold for insulating hot water heaters. Then fill the wheelbarrow with potting soil or a half and half mix of garden soil and potting soil. Be sure there's adequate drainage holes in the bottom of the wheelbarrow.
