| I have a yard full of bamboo. I paid a contractor to come and push them down and and hall them away. later I read on the internet that hat any roots would just sprout new bamboo. I bought the expensive weed killer that was supposed to kill it and that di not work. My house is begining to be taken over again by bamboo. I am can not spend everyday outside chopping down these pests. Please help |
| As you have discovered, any roots remaining in the soil have the potential to grow into a new bamboo plant. Your contractor should have dug the roots out along with the tops - it's usually a job for heavy equipment. While vegetation killers such as Round Up and Brush B Gone can kill the tops and the roots of plants to which it is applied, there will always be roots without tops, just waiting underground for a chance to pop up. You can dig every last root out or you can diligently cut off every sprout you see, before they produce leaves. If you do this you will eventually starve the roots (no leaves, no photosynthesis) and you'll be rid of the bamboo. Wish there were an easier solution! |
