I'm a novice gardener located in Alabama living in an apartment. I would like a combo of colorful cacti in a small garden. How do I get started?

If you have a sunny windowsill or an outdoor patio you can grow cacti. Use a wide, shallow container (cactus usually have small root systems) and fill it with cactus mix, then plant your little cactus and/or succulents. I like to put several in a container and since they are slow growers I don't have to worry about them being overcrowded for many years to come. There are lots to choose from. Water everything right after you plant it and then allow the soil to dry out. I water mine about every 2 weeks in the summer and every month in the winter. Good luck with your cactus garden.
