Snails, slugs, earwigs and caterpillars can chew holes in leaves and then hide under plants or between the leaves and remain undetected, even during a thorough examination of the plant. Carefully inspect all the nooks and cranies in and around your plants - you're sure to find the culprit. Once you do, you can either hand pick, hose them off, or set traps of dampened, rolled up newspapers. The pests may crawl into the newspaper overnight and you can remove the traps in the morning. Repeat as necessary.
