I am considering planting a Crepe Myrtle about five feet away from my in ground pool. The pool is a vinyl liner pool. There is a 4 foot wide concrete deck between the pool and the place where the tree would be planted. Is there a chance that the root system will interfere with the pool liner? The pool is southwest of the tree location.

My research indicates crape myrtles have a shallow, fibrous root system which is not considered invasive. Of course there are no guarantees, but based upon that knowledge, a crape myrtle should be a safe choice. Their canopies can grow quite large, however, so as the the tree matures you could have problems with litter (dropped flowers and leaves) in the pool.
