Something (birds?) is eating my berries as soon as they turn dark blue. How can I protect them?

Birds seem to know just exactly when blue berries are their ripest so I suspect local birds are raiding your blueberry patch. You can protect your plants if you drive four stakes into the ground near each plant and drape bird netting over the stakes. Keep the birdnetting several inches away from the bush itself or the birds will just land on the netting and pick through the holes. Best wishes with your blue berry harvest!
